Newcomer in the GEISHA core-group

Iestyn is joining the GEISHA core-group

Iestyn Woolway, currently a Post-Doctoral Research Assistant at the University of Reading (UK), will join the core group of GEISHA. Iestyn’s research focuses on the physical interactions between climate and water. Using a combination of in-situ, satellite, and modelled data, his research aims to answer key questions that relate to climate-induced changes (e.g., extreme events, climate warming etc.) of inland waters and their implications for the ecosystem services in which they provide. Iestyn will soon be starting a Marie-Curie Fellowship at Dundalk Institute of Technology (Ireland), investigating the influence of climatic extreme events in lakes. During the fellowship, and within GEISHA, he will aim to improve our understanding of how lakes are responding to the increased occurrence of extreme weather. In particular, Iestyn will aim to quantify the effects of the increased frequency and intensity of storms on physical lake processes and the implications for lake ecology.
