Newcomer in the GEISHA core-group

Jonathan Doubek is joining the GEISHA core-group

Jonathan Doubek, currently finishing his Ph.D. at Virginia Tech, is excited to join the interdisciplinary GEISHA team as a postdoctoral researcher in June 2018. Broadly, Jon researches how multiple environmental factors affect phytoplankton and zooplankton communities in lakes and reservoirs, and what implications may be for the management of these ecosystems. Storms are increasing in many regions globally with climate change, but the extent of increased storm intensity varies regionally and may be mediated by local lake conditions. Within GEISHA, Jon will quantify the effects of storm frequency and intensity on phytoplankton communities and assess what phytoplankton taxa and functional groups might be favored under stormier conditions.
